Abstract
The conditions for preparing sodium trimetaphosphate by heating monosodium orthophosphate dihydrate have been studied. It has been found that the use of thicker samples allows a lower temperature and a shorter heating period to be used. Sodium trimetaphosphate of very high purity can be prepared by heating a sample 2·4 cm. thick for 1/2 hour at 500°.
