Abstract
The tubulins are important in neuroembryology and developmental neuropathology, not only because they serve as convenient markers of neuronal maturation to supplement other similar markers such as neuronal nuclear antigen but also because they are themselves vital cytoskeletal structural elements in neuronogenesis. Class III (3-tubulin has proved to be one of the most useful in the group of tubulins and among the most practical in terms of direct application to human brain tissue, both surgical biopsy and necropsy. Dr Katsetos and his colleagues have been in the forefront of these original investigations of the tubulins, applying them not only to normal developing brain and cerebral dysgenesis but also to neoplastic cells for comparison with normal neuroblasts and glioblasts. This article is an excellent summary statement of our present knowledge about these ele-
