Abstract
The process of synthesizing acetic acid isooctyl ester by reactive distillation is investigated using cyclohexane as an entrainer,isooctyl alcohol and acetic acid as raw materials and ion-exchange resin as catalyst. Through the simulation,the influences of rectifying section,reaction section,the number of the plate of stripping section and feed location in reaction section on the separation effect are studied with the cyclohexane as entrainer. The results show that mole fraction of acetic acid isooctyl ester achieves 99. 90% in the bottom under the following conditions: 1 of the plate number in rectification section,4 of plate number in reaction section,7 of plate number in stripping section,2thand 5thof the feed position for isooctyl alcohol and acetic acid,respectively. In comparison with the conventional reaction distillation,the new process reduces the total number of plates and saves equipment investment.
