Synthesis and Reactivity in Inorganic and Metal-organic Chemistry
Abstract
Abstract A novel series of metal complex soaps of the type, [M(en)3]R3, where M is cobalt(III), rhodium(III) and iridium(III) are synthesized and characterized by their elemental analysis. The R group is stearate, palmitate and myristate and en is the ethylenediamine ligand. No significant changes were observed in the infrared spectra of the parent metal complex, [M(en)3].xH2O, as the halide as compared to the metal complex carboxylate. Thermal analysis using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) show the metal complex carboxylates to be stable to about 475 K. The decomposition kinetics of the rhodium compounds is discussed.
