Abstract
Phthalic anhydride is a common product of big tonnage in the petrochemical industry. In Roumania, phthalic anhydride is obtained by catalytic oxidation of o-xylene fractions. In our work, we were interested in studying the possibilities of synthesis of some polycyclic compounds, using some partially hydrogenated derivatives of phthalic anhydride, such as 3,5-dihydrophthalic anhydride, trans 3,5-dihydrophthalic methyl ester and 1,4-phthalhydrazide, which can be obtained through well known methods from the literature, using phthalic anhydride as starting material.
