Abstract
Abstract Over 30 water‐soluble salts of 8‐bromotheophylline have been prepared and their chemical and physiological properties studied. One of these (the salt 2‐methyl‐2‐amino‐1‐propanol 8‐bromotheophyllinate) has been found to have a low order of toxicity. It has been found to be a useful diuretic in certain types of water retention such as “premenstrual tension” which occurs in many women prior to the onset of menstruation.
