Abstract
Abstract Hydrobromic acid in glacial acetic acid hydrolyses the N-nitroso derivatives of secondary amines and amides to produce nitrite almost quantitatively. Other compounds containing a N-O bond such as N-nitramines and N-nitramides do not react similarly under the conditions employed.
