Abstract
Abstract The i.r. and Raman spectra of 1-halonaphthalenes have been measured in the spectral regions 4000-250 cm−1 and 3200-100 cm−1 respectively, along with the depolarization ratio of the Raman lines. A complete assignment for all the forty-eight fundamental modes of vibrations has been proposed by assigning Cs symmetry to the molecules. The study strengthens the earlier assignment of totally symmetric vibronic interaction appearing in the electronic spectra of 1-chloro-, 1-bromo- and 1-iodonaphthalenes [1].
