Abstract
The interaction of cis- and trans-dichlorobis(cyciohexylamine)-, cis-dichlorobis(cyclopentylamine)-, and cis-dichlorobis(cyclobutylamine)platinumII) with DNA has been studied by means of circular dichroism and thermal denaturation-renaturation of the nucleid acid. Structural variations in DNA are seen to occur mainly with the cyclohexylamine complexes which are pH and base-sequence dependent. No systematic pattern of structure-activity relationship could be uncovered suggesting that the anti-tumour power of platinum(II) complexes probably requires additional mechanisms besides a direct interaction with DNA.
