Abstract
The complexation of thallium(I) by benzo-15-crown-5 was studied in methanol, ethanol, propanol-1, butanol-1,2-methylpropanol, 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone, pentanol-1, ethylene glycol and 2-aminoethanol by employing polarographic techniques. The stability constants of the complexes, Ks, were found to vary with the nature of solvent; it has been observed that linear correlation between the log Ks, values and the Kirkwood term, (e − 1)/(2e + 1), of the solvents exists. The results are discussed in the frame of the changes of the T1I ion salvation.
