Abstract
Abstract Stiripentol, which exhibits antiepileptic properties is the E(±) 4,4-dimethyl-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-1-penten-3-ol. Solid state data obtained by means of X-ray powder diffractometry, differential scanning calorimetry, infrared spectrometry and solubility studies are given for quality control of the raw material. Stiripentol is an example of a racemate compound that easily forms persistent glasses whose thermodynamic properties are described and compared to those of the corresponding crystalline material.
