Abstract
Homolytic interactions of diethyldibromomalonate with 1-alkenes proceeds in two directions: a) formation of adducts, and b) stepwise telomerization, accompanied by radical chain lactonization resulting in the formation of spirodilactones of bis(2-hydroxyalkyl)malonic acids.
