Abstract
Abstract The structure of 4-ylidenecyclohexyl p -toluenesulphonate (C 14 H 16 O 3 S, M = 266.4, monoclinic, space group Cc , a = 6.151(1), b = 19.639(2), c = 11.523(2) A, β = 97.50(5) 0 , Z = 4, V = 1380.06(39) A 3 , D c = 1.28 g cm −3 ) was solved by direct methods and refined down to R = 0.068 for 1275 observed reflections. The molecule assumes a trans conformation. The conformation of the sulphonate group is approximately tetrahedral, while the cyclohexane ring is in the chair conformation. The presence of the = CH 2 substituent on this ring causes some deformations in bond distances and angles of the ring.
