Abstract
Source of material: 6-Amino-3-propylpyrimidine-2,4(l//,3//)dione was obtained by regioselective alkylation of 6-aminouracil (see refs. 1, 2). Nitrosation in the 5-position and subsequent reduction of the nitroso function yielded 5,6-diamino-3-propylpyrimidine2,4(1//,3W)-dione (see refs. 2, 3), which was condensed with 4-sulfobenzoic acid by means of /V-((dimethylamino)propyl)-Wethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride. The resulting amide was treated with polyphosphoric acid trimethylsilyl ester to yield the target compound (see ref. 4). Crystals were obtained by dissolution in 2N hydrochloric acid and recrystallization at 277 Κ with slow evaporation of the solvent over a period of several months. Refined distances C16-C17 too short, C17-C18 too long, respectively. Possible disorder in this moiety.
