Abstract
Abstract Diphenyllead-dichloride (C6H5)2PblCl2, crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pnnn = D2h12, a = 17.965±0.005 A, c = 4.005±0.003 A, Z = 2. The crystal structure, determined by two-dimensional X-ray analysis, is characterized by ploymeric chains of the type parallel to the c axis and with equivalent PbBC bonds mutually perpendicular. The phenyl rings ae normal to the chain axis, with the PbBC bonds nearly perpendicularto the plane of the chain; the lead atoms are therefore octahedrally coordianted The character of the PbBCl and PbBC bond and packing of the chains in the crystal are discussed
