Abstract
Abstract A new silver cluster complex [Ag11(Cl)(Et2dtc)9]Cl (1) with bridging diethyldithiocarbamate (Et2dtc) was synthesized and characterized by single X-ray crystallography, high-resolution mass spectrometry and thermal analysis. In the crystal structure, an eleven-vertex octadecahedron is constructed from Cl@Ag11 skeleton. The Ag11 cage is stabilized by 9 diethyldithiocarbamate ligands and has an interstitial chloride. This complex 1 exhibits luminescent properties in solid state. Low temperature luminescence of complex 1 were recorded. Upon decreasing the temperature from 298 K to 77 K, a noticable red-shift of emission was observed. This thermochromism due to thermal contraction was demonstrated.
