Abstract
The crystal structure of N-(3-hydroxypropyl)-hexadecanoic acid amide is monoclinic, P2 1 /c, with a = 44.56(3)A, b = 4.930(2)A, c = 8.977(5)A, β = 90.08 (5)°, Z = 4, V = 1972(2) A 3 . The molecules are packed into tail-to-tail bilayers. There are two different hydrogen bonds, OH... O and NH... O, which form parallel one-dimensional chains along b. The crystal structure is very similar to that of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-octadecanoic acid amide.
