Abstract
The crystal and molecular structure of N-carboxy anhydride(NCA) of glycine was determined from three-dimensional X-ray diffraction data. The crystals of glycine-NCA are monoclinic with space group C2/c and Z=8; the cell dimensions are a=9.298(2), b=5.156(2), c=16.900(4) A and β=107.88(2)°. A pair of molecules forms the dimer structure around a center of symmetry, with two N(1)–H(1)···O(1′) hydrogen bonds in the crystals.
