Abstract
Tetradecanamide, NI-I~.CO(CH2)12CH~, crystallizes in the monoclinic system with a 0 ---9-83±0.03, b 0 = 5.61±0.03, c o ---27-98±0.03 /~, fl ---95.1°±0.5 °, and space group P21/a. The unit cell conrains 4 molecules. The structure has been determined by means of two-dimensional projections. The molecules were found to occur in the crystal as dimers, packed into rows extending in the b direction, with the paraffin chains inclined to 46 ° 40' from the b axis. The paraffin chains of adjacent rows are oppositely inclined, forming a crossed-chain structure.
