Abstract
A number of 4-tent-butylbenzamides and anilides were synthesized and their preventive activity against rice blast (Pyricularia oryzae) was studied. It was found that N-methyl-4tert-butylbenzanilides possessed high preventive activity, which was enhanced by substitution at the ortho-position of aniline ring with groups derived from the hydroxy group. 2'Hydroxy and 2'-ethoxycarbonyloxy derivatives of N-methyl-4-tent-butylbenzanilide were found the most active compounds.
