Abstract
Abstract An ESR study of the interaction of two hindered piperidines: bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl)sebacate (Tinuvin 770) and bis(1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl)sebacate (Tinuvin 292) with diethylketone, benzophenone, tert-butylhydroperoxide and di-tert-butylperoxide has been made. The results obtained show that aliphatic and aromatic ketones accelerate the rate of formation of piperidinoxy radicals from hindered piperidines, whereas hydroperoxide and peroxide decrease the rate. Two different mechanisms for these interactions have been proposed.
