Abstract
N, N-diethylaniline was synthesized by the reaction of aniline with bromoethane using tetramethy ammonium hydroxide as phase transfer catalyst under atmospheric pressure. The yield of N,N-diethylaniline affected by the various reaction factors has been studied. The results indicate that the influence significance order is mole ratio of aniline to bromoethane volume of sodium hydroxide solution reaction period amount of catalyst percentage concentration of hydroxide solution reaction temperature. The optimum parameters were: mole ratio of aniline to bromoethane 1∶2. 50, amount of catalyst 0.40 mL,the percentage concentration of soldium hydroxide solution 50% , volume of sodium hydroxide solution 45 mL. reaction temperature 65 ℃ , reaction period 7 h under atmospheric pressure. The yield of the target product was 90.6%.
