Abstract
1. Potassium trimethylsilanolate (PTMS) reacts partially with methanol to form trimethylsiloxysilane and hexamethyldisiloxane. 2. A study was made of the temperature dependence of the chemical shift of the protons of PTMS when dissolved in methanol. The existence of substantial specific solvation of the PTMS molecules by methanol was postulated.
