Abstract
2,3-Dichloro-1,4-naphthaquinone is synthesized by catalytic chlorination of 1,4-naphthaquinone in presence of iron trichloride. The optimum reaction conditions are as follows: the reaction temperature is 100℃, the catalyst dosage is 0.6 % by weight of the 1,4-naphthaquinone and the dosage of methylbenzene taken as solvent is 15 mL per 1g 1,4-naphthaquinone. The yield of product is 88.4% and the purity is 98.9%.
