Abstract
Synthesis of 2-nitro-4-methoxyphenol from alkali hydrolysis of 2-nitro-4-methoxyaniline was studied, with the influence of reactant ratio ,temperature, reaction time on the synthesis analyzed. Melting points and IR spectrums of both feed and product were tested. A 96% yield of target product was obtained in the reaction carried out at 133 ℃ for 5 h, while the reactant ratio (2-nitro-4-methoxyaniline: NaOH: water) was 1.00∶1.33∶71.00. Higher temperature and more NaOH addition were helpful to get a higher conversion of feed and a better yield of product.
