Abstract
Esterification reaction of ricinoleic acid with normal butanol was studied using NaHSO4·H2O as catalyst.At refluxing temperature(oil bath temperature 145~150℃),the effects of the amount of catalyst,the molar ratio of alcohol to acid,reaction time on esterification reaction were investigated respectively.The optimal process conditions obtained are as follows: the amount of catalyst used 1.01%(the mass ratio of catalyst to ricinoleic acid),the molar ratio of alcohol to acid 2.5(ricinoleic acid 0.2mol),reaction time 2 hours.Under the condition of the process,the ratio of esterification of ricinoleic acid arrives at 95% on the average.Infrared spectroscopy indicates: hydroxyl radical and double bond of ricinoleic acid in the process of reaction keep undamaged and the catalyst shows very good activity and very heigh selectivity.It is simple to deal with the products after reaction with the method,and the method doesn't pollute environment.
