Abstract
Hexenoic acid was synthesized by the condensation reaction of malonic acid and butyraldehyde with catalysts.The product was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared(FT-IR) Spectrum and GC-MS.It has been found that there were α-and β-isomer in various ratios.The effect of the kind of catalyst,water-carrying agent,reaction temperature,ratio of reactants and reaction time on reaction results were discussed.The optimal reaction conditions were established as follows:the catalyst is ammonium acetate;the ratio of reactants is n(malonic acid):n(butyraldehyde):n(ammonium acetate) =1:1.25:0.1;toluene is used as water-carrying agent;reaction temperature is 120 ℃;the reaction time is 6.0 h.The main product is E-β-hexenoic acid.The yield of reaction achieves 67%.This technology is simple and no pollution with high yield,and the product treatment afterward is easy.
