Abstract
The silk fibroin of Bombyx mori was the first protein to which the methods of partial hydrolysis were applied in an attempt to elucidate its structure. In 1902, Fischer first isolated from fibroin a dipeptide thought to be glycylalanine, that much work been done to identify the products of hydrolysis to gain information about its molecular architecture.
