Abstract
Sulfobetaines are available in a simple fast reaction from mono-, di-, tri- and tetra-allyl ammonium salts without propansulton. These allyl ammonium salts are converted in a quantitative reaction in sulfobetaines or sulfobetaines with additional anionic groups depending on the pH-value and catalytic system in an aqueous solution at room temperature in minutes. These syntheses (sulfocyclization, sulfocyclosulfination, sulfocyclosulfonation, sulfosulfination, sulfosulfonation) are novel reaction principles. By using of long chained intermediates sulfobetaine surfactants are obtained, so as these reactions are opening a novel technical way to sulfobetaine surfactants
