Abstract
Three kinds of ligands of 1-(2-chlorophenyl)-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propane-1,3-dione(L1), 1-(3-chlorophenyl)-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propane-1, 3-dione(L2) and 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propane-1, 3-dione(L3) were synthesized, and three kinds of new Eu(III) complexes of these ligands were obtained. The related compounds were characterized by chemical element analysis, infrared spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy, respectively. The compositions of the complexes are Eu(L1)3·2H2O, Eu(L2)3·2H2O and Eu(L3)3·2H2O. According to the analysis by fluorescence spectroscopy, three complexes exhibit the characteristic emission of europium ions, indicating that the energy absorbed by these ligands can be effectively transferred to the europium ions. The fluorescence intensity of Eu(L1)3·2H2O is greatest among three complexes. This implies that the energy level of the ligand L1 with Eu(III) has a better match, resulting in the greater energy transfer efficiency.
