Abstract
Abstract Dithia[3.3]metadipyridinophane was prepared as a neutral cyclophane type ligand and its structural properties were investigated. Complexation of the ligand with bis(benzonitrile)palladium(II) dichloride or bis(benzonitrile)platinum(II) dichloride gave dichloropalladium(II)(dithia[3.3]dipyridinophane) and dichloroplatinum(II)(dithia[3.3]dipyridinophane) complexes, respectively. The X-ray crystal structure of dichloropalladium(II)(dithia[3.3]dipyridinophane) revealed a planar four-coordinate configuration with two chloride anions and two N atoms of dithia[3.3]dipyridinophane. Dichloroplatinum(II)(dithia[3.3]dipyridinophane) was also found to form a planar four-coordinate complex surrounded by two N atoms of dithia[3.3]dipyridinophane and two chloride anions. Both crystals include one dichloromethane molecule as solvent of crystallization.
