Abstract
2,4-Dimethoxybenezoyl chloride was synthesized by methylation of 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid with dimethyl sulfate and then with SOCl2 by chlorination. The optimal reaction conditions of chlorination in the total yield of 74.1% were as follows: 2,4-dimethoxybenezoic acid was 25 mmol; benzene(70 mL) was used as the solvent and AlCl3(250 mg) as a catalyst at reflux for 1.5 h; recrystallization solvent was pertroleum ether(90 ℃~120 ℃). The structures were characterized by 1H NMR and FT-IR.
