Abstract
3,4-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde was synthesized from catechol and glyoxylic acid by condensation,catalytic oxidation and decarboxylation reaction.Considering emphatically the catalytic oxidation and decarboxylation reaction and the optimum reaction conditions were obtained:the reaction temperature 90 ℃,n(catalyst) ∶n(3,4-dihydroxy mandelic acid)=0.04 ∶1.00,reaction time 7 h,velocity of air-flow 1.5 mL/min,yield of 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde≥75.8% and purity≥96.1% under the optimum reaction condition.
