Abstract
4-(2-Methoxybenzyl)-6-arylpyridazine-3-sulfonyl chlorides were synthesized and their reactivities towards some nitrogen nucleophiles were studied. Also, 4-(2-methoxybenzyl)-6-arylpyridazine-3-sulfonohydrazides were reacted with active methylene reagents to afford the respective pyrazolo derivatives. The chemical structures of the synthesized sulfonamide derivatives were determined from chemical reactions and spectral data using different spectroscopic techniques. All the new products were evaluated with regard to their antibacterial activity by the agar plate diffusion method. Some of them showed significant antibacterial activities against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
