Abstract
The synthesis of hexafluoroglutarimide (HFG) is described. Both hexafluoroglutarimide and its hydrogen congener glutarimide show no aromatase inhibitory activity in vitro as compared with aminoglutethimide (AG). The results substantiate the importance of the basic aromatic function such as p‐aminophenyl group or pyridyl group in this class of compounds as an essential pharmacophoric group for the aromatase inhibiting activity.
