Abstract
Abstract 14C-trimethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate (Meerwein's reagent) was synthesized by the exchange of 14C-dimethyl ether into triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate. Assays for both the concentration and specific activity of the oxonium salt were developed. The relative advantages of the methyl reagent over the ethyl reagent are discussed.
