Abstract
Benzyl bromide was synthesized from dibenzyl ether and hydrobromic acid with SO42-/ TiO2 as catalyst and cyclohexane as dehydrant. The effects of temperature and time of the reaction, the ratio of reactants, the amount of catalyst, the calcinating temperature and time on the yield of benzyl bromide were studied. The optimal reaction condition was obtained. The yield of benzyl bromide attained 80.2% with the mole ratio of hydrobromic acid to dibenzyl ether 3:1, 0.5 g SO42-/ TiO2 as catalyst, reaction temperature of 100~110℃for 8 hour, the amount of cyclohexane 8 mL.
