Abstract
Butyl lactate was synthesized from lactic acid and n-butyl alcohol in the presence of tungstomolybdophosphoric acid(H3PW6Mo6O40.) The catalytic activity of tungstomolybdophosphoric acid(H3PW6Mo6O40)was discussed by the orthogonal experiment. The result shows that tungstomolybdophosphoric acid(H3PW6Mo6O40)is an excellent catalyst for synthesizing butyl lactate.Factors influencing the synthesis were discussed and the optimum reaction conditions were found as follows: the mole ratio of lactic acid to n-butyl alcohol is 1:3,the quantity of catalyst is 0.6% of the feed stock, the time of reaction is 2h,and the temperature of the reaction is 110~125℃,the esterification yield can reach 97.69%,
