Abstract
Tetrakis(2,6-diaminophenyl)-porphyrin can be synthesized from 2,6-diaminobenzaldehyde and pyrrole or by the reduction of tetrakis(2,6-dinitrophenyl)porphyrin. Compound was condensed with pivaloyl chloride to yield tetrakis(2,6-dipivalamidophenyl)porphyrin, which can be metalated to form copper(II) tetrakis(2,6-dipivalamidophenyl)prophyrinate. The EPR spectrum indicates the pivolyl groups prevent porphyrin aggregation and the coordination of pyridine by the metal center
