Abstract
A novel polymeric dye of aqueous dispersion polyurethane-disperse blue 14 was synthesized from poly(propylene glycol), 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate, dimethylol propionic acid, disperse blue 14 and triethylamine depending on a modified acetone process. FT-IR was used to identify structure of the polymeric dye, indicating an obvious carbonyl stretching absorption in disperse blue 14. UV-visible spectra showed uniform absorption at 555 nm, 600 nm and 650 nm for the chloroform solution of disperse blue 14, PU-DB14 and aqueous dispersion PU-DB14. Another peak appeared at 510 nm indicated a new absorption for PU-DB14 and aqueous dispersion PU-DBI4. In addition, a new absorption located at 760 nm only for aqueous dispersion PU-DB14. The polymer was also characterized by the analysis of differential scanning calorimetry and wide-angle X-ray diffraction.
