Abstract
Abstract A simple and high yielding method for the synthesis of biopertinent and synthetically important intermediates of piperidin–4–ones, viz. tert–butyl carbazates is reported. The characterization of synthesized derivatives has been done experimentally through elemental analysis, FT–IR, Mass, 1H & 13C NMR spectra and single crystal X–ray diffraction techniques. The preferred conformation of the heterocyclic ring as well as the geometrical isomerism of the compounds was predicted in the liquid state by 1H and 13C NMR spectra. The solid state geometry along with the structural features is also studied by means of X–ray diffraction.
