Abstract
Objective:To investigate the feasibility of the synthesis of Ethyl-p-Nitrobenzoate catalysed by Hydrogen Peroxide and to study the effects of the mole ratio of reactants, dosage of catalyst, reaction temperature, and reaction time on the esterification rate. Methods:In order to obtain the optimal reaction condition, single factor designs were performed, and then based on the results of these single factor experiments, the orthogonal design experiments were performed. The results of these experiments were analyzed. The melting point of the product was surveyed by the digital melting point equipment, and the purity of the product was evaluated by the gas chromatograph type GC112A,and the structure of the product was determined using the Fourier transform. Results:Hydrogen peroxide isa good catalyst in the synthesis of Ethyl-p-Nitrobenzoate reaction. The results showed the optimal yield was obtained when the reactants were prepared at 80℃ for 2.5-3h withthe molarratio of 4:1 [n(dehydrated alcohol):n(p-nitrobenzoic acid)] and 10%ofcatalyst.Conclusion:In the synthesis of Ethyl-p-Nitrobenzoate reaction, the Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a good catalyst because of its pretty high levelofcatalysisrate and highlypurified productyield.
