Abstract
Thiazole is five membered ring system with one nitrogen and one sulphur atom. Some thiazole derivatives were synthesized and confirmed their antimicrobial activity. Many researchers reported about thiazole & their derivatives as antimicrobial, anticancer, antidiabetic, diuretics, antidepressant, anticonvulsant, anti-HIV anti-inflammatory and anti-tubercular. N-(2-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-oxothiazolidin-3-yl benzamide derivatives were synthesized with the help of benzoyl chloride and hydrazine to synthesize substituted benzohydrazides followed by synthesis of N-(4-chloro benzylidene) aryl hydrazide. Antimicrobial activity was performed against gram positive species Bacillus subtilis, S. pyogenes and gram negative species Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and for antifungal Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger species were used. In synthesized thiazole derivatives those derivatives have good antimicrobial activity in which phenyl ring was substituted with electron donating groups like hydroxyl, amino, methoxy. Hydroxy and amino substituted derivatives have maximum antimicrobial activity. Trimethoxy substituted derivatives have good activity than dimethoxy and monomethoxy substituted derivatives. Electron withdrawing moieties have very low activity like nitro substituted compounds. Keywords: Thiazole, antibacterial, antifungal, cytotoxicity.
