Abstract
4-(Hydroxymethyl)-2-(4-(hydroxymethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)phenol was synthesized from 2-methyl-6-nitroaniline and salicylaldehyde and characterized by 1H-NMR,UV and FL.The fluorescence quantum yield of the target product was 0.21 and the Stoke's shift was 126 nm.It was found that Co2+ has better fluorescent quenching effect to 4-(hydroxymethyl)-2-(4-(hydroxymethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)phenol than the other 12 metal ions which were tested in methanol.This indicated that 4-(hydroxymethyl)-2-(4-(hydroxymethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)phenol has good selectivity to Co2+,so it could be further studied as Co2+ fluorescence chemical sensor of fluorescent quenching.
