Abstract
A series of macrocyclic tricyclooctacosa- and -triacontahexaene Schiff base derivatives were synthesized by reacting pyridine-3,5-dicabonyl dichloride with dibasic amino acids esters, followed by hydrazinolysis and treatment of the resulting tricyclic bis-hydrazides with aromatic aldehydes. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, NMR, and MS spectra and screened for antimicrobial activity. Some compounds exhibited antimicrobial activity comparable to that of reference controls.
