Abstract
3-(Aminothiocarbonylthio)propanoic acids are intermediates in the synthesis o f biologically active 2-thioxo-l,3thiazan-4-ones [1]. The dithiocarbamate method widely used for synthesis o f 3-(aminothiocarbonylthio)propanoic acids [2 9] and N,N'-alkylene(arylene)-bis(3-aminothiocarbonylthio)propanoic acids [7] is a continuous process ( 6 12 h), especially at the initial stage o f the dithiocarbamic acid salt formation (3 6 h). The stage can be shortened to 1 0 4 5 min using anhydrous solvents (benzene, diethyi ether, hexane, dioxane, etc.) instead of water, alcohol, or water alcohol [2 9].
