Abstract
4′-Hydroxybiphenyl-4-carboxylic acid reacted with methanol to form methyl 4′-hydroxybiphenyl-4-carboxylate(Ⅰ).Ⅰ reacted with 1,6-dibromohexane(Ⅱ) to give methyl 4′-(6-bromohexyloxy) diphenyl-4-carboxlate(Ⅲ).Choosing ethyl alcohol as solvent, when n(Ⅰ)∶n(K_2CO_3)∶n(Ⅱ)=1.0∶1.5∶3.0,the second reaction was carried out at 80 ℃ for 8 h to give Ⅲ in 60.8% yield.Total yield of two steps was 57.6%.The structure of Ⅲ was confirmed by IR,~1HNMR and elementary analysis.
