Abstract
Methyl 4-hydroxyphenylacetate was synthesized from p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid and methyl alcohol by direct esterification using strong acidic cation exchange resin.The effects of reaction temperature,reaction time,materials ratio,the content and species of catalyst on the synthesis were studied.The proper synthesis conditions were determined as follows:reaction temperature is 65~70 ℃,reaction time is 4 h,the amount of catalyst for the reaction is 1.5% of the total mass of material,the yield of esterification is 85%,purity can reach 98.5%.After ten experiments,activity and capacity of the 732 strong acidic cation exchange resin remained.Experimental results showed that the strong acidic cation exchange resin has many advantages,such as high activity,low cost,non-corrosive to equipment and pollution-free to environment.
