Abstract
Conventional synthesis method of methyl pyrrole-2-carboxylate (2-MPC) encountered some drawbacks,such as multistep process and toxic reagent.In the present work,2-MPC was successfully synthesized from pyrrole with nontoxic dimethyl carbonate (DMC) as methoxycarbonylation agent over K2CO3/ZnO.The optimized reaction conditions were:reaction temperature 250 ℃,reaction time 3 h,n(DMC)/n(pyrrole)=2,pyrrole dosage 0.1 mol and 7.5% catalyst based on the mass of pyrrole.The highest selectivity and yield of 2-MPC can be achieved as 72.2% and 35.5%,respectively.
