Abstract
A novel quadridentate compound,2,5-bis(4-((2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzoimidazol-1-yl)methyl)phenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole(L),is synthesized and used as the second ligand to obtain a novel dinuclear Eu3+ complex of [Eu(TTA)3]2L(where TTA = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(thiophen-2-yl)butane-1,3-dione),which is characterized by IR and UV-Vis spectra.To study the influence of L on the photoluminescent properties of [Eu(TTA)3]2L,the excitation and emission spectra of the [Eu(TTA)3]2L are studied and compared with those of Eu(TTA)3(H2O)2.It is found that the emission peaked at ~ 612 nm(5D0→7F2) of [Eu(TTA)3]2L is stronger than that of Eu(TTA)3(H2O)2 with any other emission band as the benchmark.It implies that the local environment surrounding Eu3+ ions is changed by L,leading to the selective excitation of 5D0→7F2 of Eu3+ ions.
